St. Andrews Weekender – 5/5/2006 – 7/5/2006

While Lucas was away, I enjoyed a fun weekend out of town with Bram and Amy. We used Bram’s cottage as home base. Fun included feeding the neighbor’s cows, aborting a sea kayak trip because the high seas were too high for my taste, getting dragged along the beach on Amy’s kiteboard and hillwalking. We shared Saturday dinner, a chilly barbecue, with Bram’s neighbor Richard and Amy’s dad. For Sunday’s hillwalking adventure (Bagging my first Munro! And second!), Amy’s dad joined us. We walked through Glen Clova, up the Corrie Fee to the summit of Mayar, across to Little Dreish and then up to Dreish. I am not sure which Munro is taller. Mayar is the more impressive summit, with better views of Glen Clova as well as the other Glen (a corrie is the end of a glen). Amy’s dad had left us below Little Dreish. The faff factor up to Dreish as well as my slow progress down guaranteed that we were not going to catch up to him before the car. We toasted success at the first pub on the way home.
